About Queensland

Queensland is the third largest state in Australia; it occupies the northeast corner of the mainland. Queensland is made up of world class beaches along its coastline, beautiful rainforests and world heritage listed Great Barrier Reef. This state is usually named the ‘ Sunshine State’ due to its fantastic weather conditions and endless amounts of sugar canes, lush beaches and national parks. The capital city is Brisbane.

Queensland is a fast growing state and the current population is approximately 4 million people. The city of Brisbane has approximately 1.5 million. The Gold coast to the south of Brisbane is one of Australia’s fastest growing regions.

Weather

The conditions are one of the best in Australia with temperatures rarely dropping below 20 degrees. Queensland does not really experience much cold weather with the exception of inland or upland at night from May till September.

Brisbane is one of the less expensive capital cities in Australia in which to live. Accommodation costs are less than in Sydney and Melbourne and compare favorably with the other capital cities. The cost of transport, food and entertainment is average for Australian cities. As Brisbane is a large and diverse multicultural city, there is a broad spectrum of living styles available and the city can be enjoyed even on a student budget.
