Frequently Asked Questions
What are the benefits of using an Agency to assist me in finding a job?
It is very common for employers to contact agencies before advertising and as such agencies are notified of positions well ahead of them being advertised. This means using an agency will result in securing a position that may never be advertised.
Should I use multiple agencies or stick to just one?
We recommend that you find a single agency that you are comfortable with and work exclusively with that agency. Listing with many agencies may in fact dilute your chances of securing a position, as it is often confusing for hospitals when they receive multiple applications for the same candidate.
Do you charge a fee for your service?
Vital International Recruitment does not charge its candidates for using their service. Our income is derived through the employers. There will be some aspects that will require payment, e.g. registration or visa applications but these will be advised as part of our processes.
Will my application be treated as confidential?
Throughout the entire process your application will be kept in complete confidence. At no stage will Vital International provide your details without your consent, nor contact references without your knowledge. Our governing body of the RCSA has a strict confidentiality policy which we adhere to.
How long will my position be for?
In Australia positions would usually be for a minimum of 12 months depending on the level. This will be discussed with you during the recruitment process. In New Zealand it is possible to get contracts from 3 months through to permanent. Please discuss your needs with your consultant.
Is it possible to extent my contract?
Yes, if you would like to extend your contract or secure work in another part of Australia or New Zealand then we can help you with that.
Can you help my partner find work as well?
Vital International Recruitment is part of the United Group, who provide recruitment solutions to a number of industries in Australia, including accounting, banking and finance, engineering and logistics, hospitality and healthcare, so we would be more than happy to assist your partner.
How long will the process take?
This is a tough question to answer as there are a number of issues that can influence how long it will take; this is something best discussed with your consultant so you can get an accurate expectation.
Will I need to sit additional exams to work in Australia or New Zealand?
This will depend on the category of registration that you will need to apply for. Once our consultant has reviewed your CV they will be able to advise you of the requirements to work in the locations we represent
Will I need to sit and English language exam?
If your primary language is not English, then it is likely that you will need to sit an exam to demonstrate your ability to communicate in English. For more information please see our registration page
Is my current registration recognised in Australia or New Zealand?
Both Australia and New Zealand have independent registration authorities and as such any registrations you currently hold will not be accepted for gaining registration in these locations.
Will I need to be available for interviews in person or can these be done some other way?
Most of our clients will conduct the initial interview over the telephone. Depending on the level of position and the skills required a second interview may be requested to be face to face, however this usually is only at specialist level.
Can I complete training in Australia and/or New Zealand?
Yes you can. In many cases you will need to meet the prerequisites of the training college, which may require full general registration and permanent residency. These requirements vary between specialty colleges. Please discuss this with your consultant.
Does the employer provide accommodation?
In many cases there will be accommodation made available to you for a short period on arrival. Some of our clients do have hospital accommodation available for longer term rental, however this is becoming less and less.
Who pays for the relocation?
Part of the negotiations that Vital International will undertake for you will be a relocation allowance. This is often subject to the terms and conditions of employment of the employer. A relocation allowance would usually be a reimbursement against costs of the relocation up to a set amount.
Who pays my salary, Vital International or the Employer?
When working through an agency in Australia or New Zealand, the Employer will pay your salary directly. Vital International does not take a portion of this. What you are offered is what the payment will be.
How long will my Visa be for and can I extend this?
In Australia it is likely that you will initially be on a Temporary Residence Visa which would be for 4 years and can be extended for a further 4 years subject to your employment. In New Zealand you would be granted a work permit which is subject to the position for which you have been employed. Should you change positions you would need to reapply for a new work permit, which can be done without having to exit and re-enter the country. We strongly recommend you seek independent advice from a licensed migration agent.
Will I need police clearance to work in Australia and/or New Zealand?
Yes you will need a police clearance to work in Australia and/or New Zealand. This will be obtained as part of the recruitment / immigration process.
What sort of driving licence will I need?
This will depend on where your current licence is from, and how long you are intending on remaining in Australia or NZ. As a guide we recommend that you gain an international licence before travelling to either Australia or NZ as not all countries licences are recognised. Once onshore you have a limited time to obtain a local drivers licence.
Will I need personal Health Insurance?
The public health systems in Australia and New Zealand have many reciprocal agreements with countries around the world; however we strongly recommend that anyone spending more than 6 months away from their home country should take out personal health insurance for themselves and their family.
