Employer Sponsored Permanent Residency Visa (Subclass 856)

  • Available to nurses under the age of 45 only and they are expected to have vocational English at the time of the Visa application. For applicants under the age of 50 years old, their circumstances may be considered. See Booklet 5 http://www.immi.gov.au/allforms/booklets/books5.htm#how
  • The nurse must have three years experience as a nurse.
  • Most clients will only sponsor for permanent residency if the nurse has been working for 12 months in their employ.
  • The estimated time for visa approval is 6-9 months
  • Nurses must have police checks in every country in which they have ever worked and resided. An old police check can be used, as long as the nurse has not visited or worked in the country since leaving.
  • Nurses can be inside or outside Australia when they apply for their Visa.
  • Nurses and family members will all have to undergo medicals, chest X-rays and blood tests.
